Weeks and weeks of overflowing rivers, endless dull skies, and persistent rain left behind mist and flooded fields. This small watercolour was made from a briefly-glimpsed scene from a moving car.
Snow did finally come, transforming the landscape, and shifting the air of gloom. I’m particularly enthused by the contrast the pristine white snow makes with the edges of the fields and the stone walls, leaving them to stand out in sharp relief.
Unfortunately the snow didn’t linger very long, but at least for a while it was fun to go walking in something other than mud.
